THE CASE FOR "SETTLING" FOR MR. WRONG IN ORDER TO HAVE CHILDREN DISPUTED !

The Week magazine, March 7, 2009 in the Talking Points section, page 19...
Love and Marriage: The case for "settling."

Discussing Lori Gottlieb in The Atlantic Monthly, who advises women that they should settle for men who are "Mr. Good Enough," rather than "Mr. Right," in order to "have the infrastructure in place to have a family," MEGHAM DAUM in the Los Angeles Times says "You shouldn't since this is no longer the 19th century." "The case for settling" presumes that motherhood "is as necessary a part of adult female life as breathing." In reality, "there are infinite ways to define a fulfilling life," and parenthood is only one of them..."

Lesley M.M. Blume in Huffingtonpost.com suggests a personal ad for Gottlieb to consider:

"SWF will condescend to tolerate a subpar, chores-oriented, largely absentee man to participate in joyless marriage that will resemble a mundane non-profit."

THE WEEK / DON'T LOOK TO NATURE TO GUIDE OUR MORALITY by Neil Shubin

"The Week" magazine, March 7, 2008, has a short article on page 12 mentioning Neil Shubin of the New York Times and his article about Mother Nature.

"When it comes to defining sexual deviance, said Neil Shubin, Mother Nature does a lousy job. In arguments over such moral issues as cloning and same-sex unions, we humans often cite what we believe to be "natural," But if you examine nature closely, "the diversity of reproductive strategies seen in animals staggers the imagination." Some creatures clone themselves, some engage in homosexuality, and others switch genders. The Komodo dragon, for example, can occasionally create off spring through eggs hatched without the sperm of a daddy dragon. These "virgin births," observed in zoos, are a from of clothing,. Several species of fish also can reproduce by cloning, which is an ancient strategy that "species use to survive in a dangerous world...."

MARRIED WITH CHILDREN EMPOYEES TAKE ADVANTAGE OF CHILDLESS COWORKERS

This issue was really burning me up this morning.

You're the one who has not had children. Maybe you can't afford it. Maybe you're infertile. Maybe you just never wanted children.

HERE COMES YOUR SOCCER MOM BOSS expecting you to cover for her, make up work for her, stay late for her, so she can go see her son or daughter play. Did you know your job description includes making up lies to her boss about where she is when she's taking an afternoon off to shop at the mall, get her nails done for a party, or running her children to the dentist? Or maybe she has you doing a little extra work running errands that are home and children related for her?

This woman is a business woman. A career woman. Educated. But now that she has children she expects you to UNDERSTAND that her children should come first - well, maybe not first, but a close second. And if you don't want to? If you refuse? Why that would make you downright anti-children, right? Anti-children, UnAmerican, Unnatural.

Think about it.

Have you actually gone to the home of your boss to provide free or low cost CHILD CARE for her?
